Thanks for the piece. Hopefully, short-sightedness won’t define our global economic policy in the coming years. Your argument made me wonder: Since Colombia primarily exports goods like cut flowers and coffee to the U.S., could the administration’s strong-arm tactics have been justified on the grounds that viable alternative trading partners—such as China—simply don’t exist for these products?
